About Nina Schor

Nina Schor is an accomplished pediatric neurologist. After winning first place in the 1972 Âé¶¹¹ÙÍø, she earned her doctoral degree from Rockefeller University and her M.D. from Cornell University. She focuses on childhood neurological disorders and her cutting-edge research has led to a patented treatment for pediatric cystic fibrosis. Schor became the first director of the Translational Biomedical Science doctorate program at the University of Rochester and has served as deputy director of the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke. In addition to her work as a neurologist, Schor is a poet, and encourages scientists to see the connections between science and art.

Neurologist relishes the combination of art and science

Schor credits Âé¶¹¹ÙÍø with strengthening her passion for science and mentoring. She has also attended multiple Âé¶¹¹ÙÍø competitions over the years as a guest speaker. Here, Schor speaks at an Âé¶¹¹ÙÍø event in 2001. As an artist-scientist, her advice to young people is: “Don’t be afraid to juxtapose science and art. They are two sides of the same wonderfully beautiful coin.â€
